Ronceray has no legal status in French wine law yet, this wine is technically labelled an Anjou Blanc. However the grapes are from the one of the greatest areas in the world.
The winemaker, has decided to forgo the prestigious label for this wine and make what she wants, a brilliant, dry Chenin from those same great vineyards. They come from around her vineyard of old vines. These aged vines produce alot less fruit but much higher quality.
The aged vines and a barrel influence suggest more richness but that’s not the case! Ronceray is much more concentrated and leaner, this is all down to the high levels of acidity that the grapes retain whilst ripening.
